ABOUT ME
Hello there! My name is Troy Stewart. I'm a Washington, DC based photographer, specializing in portrait, event and sports photography. I'm an easy-going guy that believes that there is beauty, true beauty, in every single creature on Earth...and it is my mission to translate that beauty into my clients' finished products.
I received my first professional camera in 2000 from my wife as a wedding gift. Since that moment, I've truly been enamored with photography and creating images. I was always the guy at family functions taking pictures with mostly good reviews. Yeah, I know what you're thinking...'but they're your family members dude!' You obviously don't know my family! :-)
After about seven years of trial and error shooting and becoming a bit stagnant, I decided it was time to take the next step and invest in myself, especially if I ever expected anyone else to invest in me. Ironically, around this same time my wife must have had the same vision. She sent me, as another gift, to a workshop in Atlanta, GA, being hosted by the man himself, Ross Knight. It was his passion for storytelling and his desire to promote the idea of community and creating a client experience that lit a fire within me.
I continued my quest for professional learning by attending a few more workshops and semester long classes in photography and image processing to enhance my craft - oh yes, by now...It's a craft! This new learning opened my eyes to a world I had no idea existed - a business called photography. For roughly seven years, I thought this was just a family thing for me, until friends and strangers alike began to take notice of my images. That somehow led to inquiries about shooting opportunities ranging from birthday parties to weddings. After getting over the initial shock of receiving said inquiries, I decided, in that moment, that it was time to get serious!
So, here I am....proud owner of Troy Stewart Photography, hoping to service any of your photographical needs, should you be so inclined.
